Hiking Open Spaces: LaBarque Watershed Spring Hike
May 3, 2008 - 9:00am
Join us for a hike in the beautiful LaBarque Creek Watershed, identified by the Missouri Department of Conservation as an area of particular conservation interest. Our hike will take us through one of the most pristine and diverse watersheds in the state. The area features unique limestone formations, lush deciduous forest, and an abundance of wildflowers and birds.

Directions from Eureka: South on Hwy109. Turn left on Hwy W. Turn right on Byrnesville Rd. Turn right on Sand Cut Rd. Turn right on Don Robinson Rd. (it will be a gravel road) Park at the house at the end of the road. Map to Hike

Join us for a litter pickup in Hickory Woods Conservation Area in Bridgeton, Missouri. We will meet at 9:00am - all supplies will be provided. All participants will receive a patch and t-shirt!
Hickory Woods CA is north of I-70 on Lindbergh Road, west on Long Road, and north on Fee Fee Road, adjacent to the City of Bridgeton’s Gentry Park. Click here for a map of the area.

Operation Wild Lands Tree Planting Workday
Greentree Park Wetland in Kirkwood, MO
Please join us on Saturday, April 12th to plant trees as part of a wetland restoration project in Greentree Park. Please arrive by 8:00am, we will work until 12:00pm.

Come celebrate Earth Day this year by doing your part to keep Forest Park clean!
In conjunction with the St. Louis Earth Day Festival, the Open Space Council is conducting our annual Forest Park Operation Clean Stream. We will meet on Sunday, April 20th at 9:00am in the lower Muny Parking Lot in Forest Park. (If you are looking at the Muny from the circle drive outside the main entrance, we will be in the small lot on the far left side of the Muny.)
Gloves and trash bags will be supplied. If you have any questions, please email us or call 636-334-3035. Please RSVP if you can so we have an idea of how many volunteers to expect. But even if you don’t RSVP, please join us anyway! And after the cleanup, stay and visit the other booths and vendors at the Festival!

Join us for our annual winter cleanup in Castlewood State Park. Help take care of one of the finest natural areas in the St. Louis area and get a free lunch as well!
We will meet at Sherman Beach County Park, located on St. Paul Road in Ballwin.

This event is FREE, but pre-registration is required.
The hike is along the route of the Al Foster Memorial Trail. The full hike is an out and back course of 9 miles. (4.5 miles from Glencoe to Castlewood State Park and then 4.5 miles back to Glencoe). Each mile will be marked and participants can choose from any length hike, up to the full 9 mile distance.
We will do a rolling check-in/start time. You can check-in and start your hike any time between 8:15 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. Please be advised, those individuals enjoying the longer hike may want to get an early start, if they want to take part in the planned lunch.
Breakfast of bagels, granola bars, fruit, and beverages (including hot drinks) will be provided at the trailhead. Following the hike, lunch will be provided at Wildwood City Hall (16962 Manchester Road). Participants will receive a t-shirt commemorating the event, in addition to breakfast and lunch.
